What does it mean to be Ready?
“Be ready” (body) - to be physically prepared or other versions say “be dressed” meaning to be dressed with the whole armor of God: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, feet fitted with readiness from the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit or word of God (Eph. 6:11-18).

We are called to always be in state of readiness, in body, mind, and spirit

Body:
Mind:
“for service” (mind) - ready for action, watchfulness. We must have the mind of Christ (2 Cor. 2:16) & be mentally alert to serve the Kingdom of God whether that means serving others, standing strong in your faith, sharing the truth of God with your family or friends, praying for someone in need or pushing back the enemy.

“and have your lamps lit.” (spirit) - or keeping the fire of the Holy Spirit burning within you. We are called to be lights to this world (Matt. 5:14-16) and can only do so by seeking God daily. He is oil that allows our lamps to continue to burn. He is the light that allows us to shine before men. We must keep our lamps burning continuously as we anticipate Christ’s return.

What will Christ find us doing when he returns? We are to be Ready Now, dressed for service at any given moment to share the truth of God to others and be a light to this dark world.
